German Events

Currrent and recent events:

Fall 2008 German Club Activities: Representation at Culture Fest and sponsoring a baking event.

May and December 2007: Senior capstone presentations.

April 2007: The German Club organized Café Wien in the Union complete with German and Austrian pastries and a violinist. This event was followed by a traditional Easter brunch.

October 2006: Grant Writing Workshop for German Majors and Minors by Professor John Reynolds, Treasurer, Delta Phi Alpha, National Honor Society in German.

May 2006: Immersion Weekend Campout in Albion, ME - Service-Learning Project organized by University of Maine German students for German students of Cony High School in Augusta. This weekend was made possible by a generous Active Learning Grant from the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Maine.

May 2006: Senior capstone presentations and graduation party at the Sea Dog in Bangor.

Sozialize and join the German Club. Annual trips to "Old Munich Restaurant" in Topsham: 2006 and 2005.

Former Environmental Sciences major and German minor, Lucas Patry (graduated August 2005), shown here, vacationing in Austria), donated $1,000 to Professor Hoecherl-Alden to use for the purchase of instructional materials for German. Current and future German students thank you, Luke!

May 2005: Senior Capstone presentations and Sunday brunch at the Lucerne Inn

Practice your German while you eat lunch at the weekly language table: During the semester, Stammtisch meets every Wednesday between 12 and 1 in 207 LH:
A typical meeting with students from German 102 to 400-level German classes, faculty members and German-speakers from both the academic community and Orono.
